Questions, answered

What is Aaven?

Aaven is an iPhone app that reads the news aloud. Choose the topics you care about — Top Stories, Technology, Business, Finance, World, Science, Health, AI, Sports, Entertainment and more — press play, and Aaven reads you a spoken briefing of today's stories in a natural voice, one after another, like a radio broadcast.

Is Aaven free?

Yes. Aaven is a free download on the App Store, and the free version includes a daily sample of top stories and daily extras read aloud. The optional Aaven Plus subscription adds unlimited sources and categories, premium neural voices, offline caching, and full playback customization.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up, no login, and no registration. Open the app, pick your topics, and listen.

Where does the news come from?

Aaven fetches headlines directly from real publishers' public news feeds — only the sources you turn on — summarizes each story, and reads it aloud. Every story links back to the original article if you want to read the whole thing.

Can I listen while driving, walking, or cooking?

That's what it's for. Aaven keeps playing in the background with the screen off, so you can keep up with the news while your hands and eyes are busy.

Is it a good news app for older adults?

Aaven is built to be simple: no feed to scroll, no tiny text to squint at, and no account to manage. Pick a few topics once and every day's briefing is ready to play.

Can I use it to practice English listening?

Yes — Aaven reads real, current news in clear, natural English, and you can adjust the speaking speed in Settings.

Can I fall asleep listening to it?

Aaven has a built-in sleep timer that stops playback after the time you choose, so you can drift off to the news instead of scrolling a bright screen.

Built to stay out of your way. Aaven only fetches what you explicitly turn on — nothing happens automatically in the background. No ad SDKs, no analytics trackers, no custom backend collecting your data. Just headlines, read aloud.
